Europa S - discount on a brand-new car?
Discussion
In the recent thread "Exige S , help me with my decision", the original poster (jonny5) indicated that there were was a substantial discount to be had on a factory-ordered new Exige:
". . . 3) Spec a new 08MY Exige S, Sport Pack, Perf Pack, Lightweight Alloys, Adj. Susp. A/C. Listed circa £44k , deal @ £40k .. 6-8 weeks . . ."
So I was wondering if there were similar discounts to be had on other models in the Lotus range - in particular the Europa.
I'm actually that rarest of Lotus customers - someone interested in a brand new Europa S
, and have visited a few dealers to discuss my purchase. In the course of these visits, none of the salesmen have indicated that there is any form of a deal to be done on a new Europa.
Given the less-than-stellar sales figures for the Europa, and the level of discount apparently available on a new Exige, I, perhaps mistakenly, thought that dealers would be biting my hand off to do a deal . . .
I know there's been a lot of comment in other Europa-related threads about the price that *should* be paid for new Europa, but what sort of deals are actually being offered?
Thanks,
Movano.

The Lotus dealer in Milton Keynes seemed to be offering the best deals when I was looking 6 months ago, about 3-4K off as far as I can remember. I think it depends on the dealer and if they are struggling to make targets or not. I think the more patient you can be the better and just talk to all the sales men.

Boggy, it's worth bearing in mind that all the above cars are being priced above the proposed entry level price for the revised range (I believe it was supposed to be £27,995 for the 'S', with £32,995 for the SE?)http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/384026.htm

£24995 for a brand new Europa S bought three weeks ago.
I have now done 1500 miles, and love the car!
Practical.... just
Immense fun.... A trip over Hartside yesterday was awesome.(A686 in Northumberland) I really cant think there would be anything much faster. Lots of grunt from 3000rpm onwards, which makes it (dare I say it) a faster A to B car than an Elise R on normal roads, where you are not sure what is around the corner.
I drive that road regularily. In the Europa you can overtake in places that you would not even begin to think about in a "normal" car.
And you get to live with the bruises on the shins from getting in and out!

If you move from the "discuss my purchase" stage to the "sit down and talk turkey" stage, they should offer you a handsome discount, particularly on the 07 spec cars. They will of course make it seem like you are asking to sleep with their mother.

Jonny will like as not know the salesman by name. A fresh face punter won't get such an easy deal. ". . . 3) Spec a new 08MY Exige S, Sport Pack, Perf Pack, Lightweight Alloys, Adj. Susp. A/C. Listed circa £44k , deal @ £40k .. 6-8 weeks . . ."

Armed with the advice I've received in the replies to my original post, I'm no longer being quoted list - hope to settle on a deal in the next few days. Many thanks guys!
