Hello all,

Not being particularly proud of my self proclaimed lurker status, I thought I would address this by starting a thread just, well.....to update you fellow lotus owners so it doesn't come as so much of a surprise when I (hopefully) contribute to future threads.

I sold my previous silver s2 elise in July 07 with the intention of getting something sensible. So in August, I bought a black s2 exige. I have not regretted the decision (even after being loaned an e46 m3 for 2 months and a 2006 prodrive impreza sti for a month) so it Seems I'm tied to the marque so I may as well get used to it.

So, a big hello from the iom and anyone who hasnt tried the mountain road(especially with its recent improvements) with their elise/exige really MUST experience it.

Isle of Man? Never been there, but i'm now recalling an in-car clip of Ari Vatanen powering around the Manx Rally many years ago in an Opel Manta 400. Love to take a trip out there someday.

Hi there,

I'm from IOM but dont live there any more. I was there last week but didnt go up the mountain. So what are the improvements? Gotta love that dash over the top from the end of the mountain mile / verandah to kates cottage. My fave bit was the run from peel to ramsey.

If you have lived there for a while, you may have seen me around 5 years ago knocking arround in a black S1 160.

I only moved there just over a couple of years ago so still not great with road names etc. Though, in my defence, you can't get particularly lost on the Island!

Basically, they've smoothed out a previous tight turn, which heads up to the mountain road from Douglas. It is now a stunning, banked (!) smooth turn which can be taken very quickly depending on your vehicle/bravery level.

Coming up past the peverel rifle range (where you can go to shoot semi-automatic handguns and rifles!), this corner has also been totally remodelled and is called windy corner. Again, much smoother and improved sight through the turn.

Try going up the mountain from douglas end and turn firs or second left just before the motorcycle museum. Those roads are quiet (if a bit bumpy) but very very enjoyable to drive in an elise.
