Tomorrow i will be buying my 3rd Lotus in 12 months.
The only problem i have is that i am torn between two, an 05 Sport Racer and an 07 S. The S is a grand more.
I cannot decide which one to buy, what do you reckon??
You're late. I was expecting to see this last weekend! Go for the SR IMHO. Or better still an S1 perhaps? - especially if you are keeping the Saab? The only problem i have is that i am torn between two, an 05 Sport Racer and an 07 S. The S is a grand more.

Get the S... very good everyday car and it should suit you quite well
But he has had one before, and it may not be his everyday car. This one is going to get driven like it should and i will be booking the Oulton Park Novice day tomorrow as well. I never got anywhere near the most out of my other two Lotus due to lack of confidence.
I did have every intention of buying an Exige S and test drove it at the weekend. Quite frankly it scared the s
t out of me and there is no way im ready for one. It did give me the bug to buy another Elise though hence tomorrows purchase.Skyman said:
Perhaps not an S1 then....that can be for next time! Given that you have already had both an R and an S, what do you think you would prefer? Personally, I would go for the SR - red or blue?
I preferred the R to be honest but i had the K series 111S so it cant be compared to the S im thinking about now.Its a blue SR and looks great but the S is Solar Yellow with hard top and i love that colour Lotus. Both are at CN.
I really am undecided and someone joked earlier about buying one now then swapping in a few weeks which is probably what i will end up doing.

Knowing how long it took you to drive the R in second cam and also knowing you were scared s**tless by a demo drive from the dealer why don't you consider the S?
The S is plenty fast (compared to most cars on the road) and if you are really approaching this new car with a strong intent to learn the characteristics of the handling then the S will be perfect and not as scary as the other, slightly faster cars.
I got my car from Christopher Neils (CN) last October and have driven it day in day out since then (nearly continuous crap weather) and every time I have popped back to CN the sales man who sold me the car has joked and said that the whole experience is just going to get more and more enjoyable as summer arrives.
He is right as over the last few weeks ownership is getting better (more grip). What ever you choose at least keep it till the end of summer.

We will have to meet up this time. My mate (Stevo96) has just bought an S1 and he doesnt need much of an excuse to get out of the house either. The S is plenty fast (compared to most cars on the road) and if you are really approaching this new car with a strong intent to learn the characteristics of the handling then the S will be perfect and not as scary as the other, slightly faster cars.

I have spent more time talking to Jeff at CN during the past few weeks that i feel related to him now. As said before my intention was the Laser Blue Exige S that they have in and apart from the drive scaring me i was getting quoted from £1500 to over £4k insurance. Autotorque was the quote over £4k despite me insuring my previous cars with them for a fraction of that. That helped make my mind up not to buy the Exige S in the end.
PS
It took me so long to reach second cam in my previous 111R because the car was still being run in not because i was frightened. Im brave when driving in a straight line.

Buy the 07 S - it costs more and has more depreciating to do, so will suit you fine. In fact, why not spec up an SC with all the extras?
One of my posts wouldnt be the same without your piss taking

I have missed you Kev

I have taken a £2.5k hit on the Saab but at the end of the day whether i sold it now or in 3 years time i would still take a hit.Didnt really take a hit on any of the other cars i have bought and sold during the past 12 months so perhaps now is the time to settle down car-wise. Managed to negotitate a good deal on a nearly new Meriva for the family car as well so all in all im quite happy.
