Hi Guys!

PLEASE HELP....

The Immobiliser on my S2 Elise (2005 111s) is playing up big time!

I've had the car about 6 weeks now and theres always been a niggle with the immobiliser. The day I brought it (private PH), there was a minor niggle but the owner took the battery out of the fob and put it back in and all was OK.

What happens is this.... press the big button on the fob to open the door and the red LED (on fob) comes on and stays on (but nothing happens to the immobiliser, it stays on!). I try the spare set of keys to eliminate the possibility of the battery and the same happens to these.... so it must be the immobiliser.

On checking the handbook there is reference (Page 12-13) of "Re-Synchronisation" of the transmitter... holding down buttons A and B for 10 seconds and the pressing button 'a' for a further 1 second etc. This has worked (after 10 mins of fiddling!) in the past... but on this occassion no joy!

I've been unable to start the Lotus for 2 days now and i've called Christopher Neils and Cobra who have both uttered suggestions that haven't worked.... any ideas guys???

Any help would be most welcome?

Craig

The only time this has happened to me was when I had a near flat car battery, which I presume is ok?

In fact, it was only after failing to be able to resync the key fob that I realised that it was the car battery, if I remember the rev limiter/alarm led on the dash stayed on instead of flashing which was a clue

The light stays ON to indicate a near flat battery!

Perfect!

Perfect indeed.... Just read this after i'd tried it myself!

I'd ruled out the battery as the barely used spare demonstrated the same problems.... anyhow, whilst at Tesco getting a sarnie I thought what the hell and purchased a couple of new batteries (just to rule this out) and YIPPEEEEEEE - back in business again!

Sounds obvious I know but the characteristics of the fobs etc and the fact that the re-sync had worked b4, led me to believe that it couldn't be the batteries.

Anyhow, big relief all round.... lets just hope this was the issue and it won't feck-up again next week! scratchchin

Cheers for your help! byebye

Hello smile

Hope you've sorted this out now, but just to say that I am also finding the alarm button on the key fob a little quirky... I just can't seem to find the knack of actually deactivating it. I do eventually, but usually after a couple of mins frantically clicking it rolleyes

And I think my neighbours are going to kill me if I set the alarm off too many more times.....!

Seems ok now..... £3.00 for 2Nr (1 each fob) batteries from Tesco has to be worth a try!

You need 3V Lithium Batteries, type CR2032.... they're the little round ones about the size of a 5p.

Give um a go, might just work. They are said to be good for between 2-3 years from new, so any car older than 3 years might as well change them before they leave you stranded and stratchin' ya noggin! scratchchin
