What colour calipers? I'm undecided...(white car)
Discussion
I need to repaint my calipers on my car (white Exige S)...however, I'm undecided what colour.
The car has black wheels, of course, and my immediate reaction was to paint them black and detail the "lotus" bit in white on them. But the wheels are so full and dark that I don't think you'll see them at all. Could be good, could be bad.
I was thinking..................red?
What say you world?!

Lovely car Tony
The simple black and white colour scheme looks really nice, I think introducing a third colour might actually take from it, maybe the black with white detailing would be a more subtle tasteful addition.
Yeah that's what I aws worried about - BUT, because they (the calieprs) are so hidden I wondered if they'd just peek through. The simple black and white colour scheme looks really nice, I think introducing a third colour might actually take from it, maybe the black with white detailing would be a more subtle tasteful addition.
It's not a critical decision though; I'm tempted to just paint one side red and if it looks rubbish i'll paint everything black; but at least I tried, eh?!

By the way Tony, how are you getting on with the Exige S? How do you find it compares to the 111S that you had before?
Falling in love with it more and more. I must be honest, when the 111S went I did wonder if I'd made the right decision. And then, barely driving the Exige from November through to about Feb/Mar I really did worry if I'd made the right decision again; the 111S was SO good. However, I've done a few hoons with the Exige now (little ones, sunday morning jobbies) and realising what an awesome car it is. I still wonder if I'd have been better off keeping the 111S, but I was bored of black and fancied a change for changes sake, so love it.As for the car itself; it's frankly awesome. Brake feel needs to be slightly improved which will, apparently, come with fitting Pagids - next on the list - but other than that it is simply an awesome tool for covering ground. Once pagids are in place, on to the track I will go.
Can't wait for the summer season and our big mahoosive hoon in September (to Tuscany via alps).
Just given the car it's first full on clean with the help of JayKayBi at the weekend; it looks awesome now, will be posting pictures and things this week

PS: thanks Patmahe!!
Thanks for the update
I'd love an Exige myself, but the 111S is just so good I couldn't bring myself to sell it!
I must get another test drive in an Exige S sometime actually. I was very impressed by the extra power, but hated the throttle action. The salesman told me it was normal, whereas I couldn't get on with it at all, and thought it could even be dangerous (in fact someone crashed the car shortly after I drove it..). According to others on here, this isn't a usual feature of the car, so if that's true I'm sure it's an amazing machine
By the way, I've no idea about the brake calliper colour
I'm torn between saying black to keep it simple, and red to balance up the car's look.

- the 111S is so good though, you do wonder if changing is the right thing to do. I was tempted just to get another 111S just different colour/spec, that's how good it was.
I think I'm going to paint one side red, if it looks crap, I'll do the whole lot in black. You have to try these things I think

Sorted it thanks Glassman
turned out that the motor had blown a fuse because the mechanism eventually jammed.
Long story short; a new mechanism from ebay (£20ish, I forget exactly) and a new fuse, perfectly fixed! Thanks for the advice about removing it; couple of tricky bits but all without problem! Much appreciated.

Tony, I recommend you stick with the old black+silver lettering (didnt you have this on the 111S?). The red stands out way too much and the finish it gives is never really as good as a proper multi-piston caliper a la Porsche. I have done the silver lettering on my fronts with clear-coat on top and it looks just right in my opinion.

Personally I'd go for red! Would look fantastic on a white Exige hidden behind black alloys
