For one days insurance on the track at the Oulton Park Novice day this Wednesday for a whopping £125 with an excess of 10% of my vehicle value.
Is this a normal type quote?

Yes. In fact, that's not bad for a one off day.

Put it in to context; they're insuring you against driving on a race track, at full pelt, having never seen you or met you, where race tracks have no liability laws (eg, I crash into you, tough - you pay for damage), and they're insuring a £30k+ car. I don't think £125's too bad!

Nevertheless I agree it does turn a track day to relatively expensive; I'm considering cancelling this year's road insurance policy, getting the non-pro-rata refund and buying a policy with track insurance included.

Remember, you don't need to insure the whole car; sometimes you can just insure the chassis (the bit which will get damaged in an accident).

Ding.... its normally around £10 per £1000 of cover so £125 isn't bad if you talking about a 30k car.

yep thats cheap...I take it was from CCI ....if you are a regular trackday user then its much better to get insurance with trackday cover built in - there are a number of providers these days

i tried them for my ususal annual quote but they were very high. I could not find any company that came close to ESure although they are very pensioner orientated and not many pensioners race around tracks so they dont do track insurance.

I have just saved £300 by going to CCI from Performance Marque and they have thrown in the 4 free track days cover - very impressed with their prices.

As above, I'd expect to pay around that for a single day's cover.
