Yea, they say they can modify a car for abut 40 quid. What they mean is when methanol is available from a pump they'll offer it as an upgrade to 240 cars for another £4000+ quid by which time I'll be too old to drive anyway!

too right!

£40 my arse, ethanol sensors cost more than that just for startets, and more octane doe not equal more power, just the ability to run higher compression (or boost).

why are these jurno's so f'ing lazy??

Nice idea, but it'll be a long time coming, and I don't see it being a cheap option. And that's not even going near the whole issue of biofuels being not really eco-friendly when you really look into it.

When I was a young'n (well, younger than I am now), an older friend of mine used to put Ethanol in his tank to mix it with normal unleaded. He swears it was 'a good idea' and improved the performance of his car no end. I have no idea if he still does it, as I lost regular contact with him. I wonder if he blew up any engines or is still enjoying the increased power?

just using ethanol does not make you more power...

you also have to use a fair bit more ethanol than petrol so your MPG goes out the window.

ethanol is not a bad thing, just different, proble is when you tune an engien to use it, unless you have some dynamic CR (or turbo wioth mapped boost) you can't then use petrol...

Even though you can synthesise the methanol from C02 and Hydrogen I bet they'll still find a way to tax it....

Great link though, cheers Grinnders wavey
