Difference in cabin noise without touring pack
Discussion
Not sure if this is much help as its relevant to the Elise, but the 111R without the pack isnt that much different. You get to hear a bit more engine noise, but not a lot.
Maybe completely useless info given the additional wind noise in the Elise may result in me not hearing as much as in the Exige any way, but thought I'd mention it, just in case no one responds concerning the Exige

I installed the rear bulkhead foam in my 111r and it didn't make much difference (good as i only wanted it to stop the plastic reverbing!)
Engine noise was very marginally reduced (no more than 20%)
However the biggest bonus is the fact that the rear speakers actually work now. So I can actually go on the motorway and hear my music!
Road noise is pretty much the same.

I was told by a dealer that the whole Touting pack for a 111R weighed approx 65Kgs. I have subsequently heard figures between 45 and 65Kgs. Either way its a fair bit, considering the overall wieght of the Elise, and from my perspective, the only thing worth having are the driving lights.

I have had an Exige S with the touring pack and have currently got one with the sports pack (no sound proofing). While the last car had a standard exhaust the current one has the sports exhaust and is noticably louder although I would put this down more to the exhaust rather than the sound proofing.
I retrofitted the touring pack to mine. Basically consits of the big foam block behind the rear seats, a couple of large chunks of foam behind the front speakers & a large peice that goes behind the speedo. It also has 6 dynamat type pads which go on the bulkhead, under seats & under the floor mats.
It does make a difference when on the motorway as you get less road noise & partcularly engine noise. I also feel it keeps the car a bit cooler as well as stops the engine heat from coming through so much. The dynamat mats are also very effective as the car feels more put together & doesn't clatter at all when small stones hit the undertray or when going over a pothole.

Thanks for all the replies - food for thought. I'm off down to Leeds tomorrow to test drive an 'S'. Don't know whether it will have the touring pack or not so it will be interesting. Looking on their website, the 2 cars they have both have the pack fitted.
Hardly any Exige S stock around the North East at all
F1 are getting a brand new white one, but are reluctant to let anyone drive it. They'll probably sell it before it arrives anyway.

Really? How does what is in effect a carpet set and 'uprated' HiFi equate to a b 45-65Kg weight gain?(Electirc windows are lighter than manual)
