Without going into the embarrasing details, I have a small crack on the rear of my clam, about an inch long under my rear lights.

Can anyone recommend a decent body shop locally, or do I have to try and fight off Westover telling me I need a new clam (again).

I shan't go into details of how it happened, but suffice it to say, there is no insurance claim involved....

Ta in advance!

Bad luck old chap.

Long time no see - I hope all is well.

There are 2 places to try - The first is Specialised Paintwork in reading, they are the best. There is a place in Stanley Green Cresent Industrial Estate, the '7 guys swear by it. They have fixed Beachbums car and I once got a very reasonable quote but that is all I know.

Kind of - broke up with Mrs Bingo at the weekend, but on the upside I'm getting sent to Hong Kong for 6 months.

Cheers Goobs - will google those! Was hoping to get it fixed locally as it is but a small crack (inch long at most).

The guy I used that Gooby mentioned sold up and the person now running it, no longer does Fibreglass repairs.
Rumour has it the original bloke was going to start up a new company, but that was some time ago and I never heard anything more.

Would suggest trying the Caterfield forum, they may have the guys name as he is a 7 owner. His work was very good, and the price was stupidly good, cash helps

Update - I took my P+J up to Specialised Paintwork in Reading on Tuesday, and picked her up last night.

WOW.

They have done an amazing job, and even did the whole back end (a previous ding had been coloured in the wrong shade of blue.....) and gave it a thorough valet and also fixed my broken indicator lense, all for what I think is a very reasonable £480. All throughout the service and communication was spot on.

So, wallet lighter, but happier smile

My ex-SportsRacer unfortunately died last week - written off in an incident... but the occupants were fine which is the main thing of course

Still shed a tear when I saw the crash pics though frown

OMG, Janitor you must be distraught after all the pampering you gave it...what a shame. Glad occupants were OK though.

I didn't see any pics, did Beak send them to you or post them on SELOC?

Cheers Mini - I was actually more gutted to hear that than I was the day it drove away. Still, should learn to let go of these things...

Beak emailed them to me Phil

Not really my place to post them up of course, but will ask his permission in due course

Glad Specialised did a good job, I was very pleased with the work they did on mine.

Saw the Pic of Beak's crash on his phone today, was a bit of a mess. Did you think it was enough to write it off, I thought it looked repairable (possibly doesn't in the full size pictures)

Looked pretty twisted and BoLOCs’d at the back mate... both rear wheels toeing out at about 30 degrees suggests major sub-frame damage

Apart from the seats and front access covers, I don't thing anything else got away unscathed frown

Sorry to hear about the car Janitor. Even though she's long gone from your ownership you must be pretty sad to see all that love and care you lavished on her now gone.
Good to hear that beak and his pax are OK.
