Is is possible to take the wheel arch liner off without taking the wheels off?

As mine seem to be welded on...!!

I then believe its quite straight forward to get the bulbs changed.

Thanks

You will need to take the wheel off. Whilst you have the wheel off you might as well fit HIDs as they are a lot better than the std lights.

Loosen the wheel nuts a bit (but leave a reasonable amount of thread on them) and then drive the car a few feet. Should get them off.

Or did you mean the nuts are stuck? If that's the case, you just need a looong breaker bar. smile

Remove all wheel studs, get a piece of Timber (3 x 3 x 9-10" long), wrap a rag around the end, place half against the tire wall and wheel rim and hit with a 4lb lump hammer, moving around the wheel (make sure the car is well supported on a trolley jack first).

After a bit of effort, the corrosion of alu/steel will crack and the wheel will come off - don't go beserk or you may damage the rims.

I used this method on my old 997 after having fitted 3 wheel spacers, only to find the rear O/S wheel wouldn't budge - also recently on a 3 year old Focus that had never had the wheels removed.

Finally, make sure you put copper slip on the hubs before refitting, the wheels will fall off in future then!

I had to put a 4ft bar on to get a couple of my wheel nuts off to do my HIDs. Someone I think had completely ignored the correct torque for them.

I think I would want to replace the bolts if they were torqued up that much!
