Exige Buying Guide

Hi all,
well, I've finally gotten that gut feeling that tells you that the time is right to take the plunge and buy an Exige. although i am quite familiar with Lotuses i still have a couple of questions.
>Will a XX04XX plate have the 'yota engine? this is critical to me as the car has be shipped to Malta and parts for K-Series engines are not available locally.
>is there an online buying guide for the Exige, I've found loads for the Elise, and i am aware that the cars are similar, but i'm sure the differences are more than skin deep.
> How accurate are HPI checks? i intend on having any cars i am interested in inspected prior to flying up to see them. are they as reliable as they claim to be?
