Finally got my yellowstuff pads on the car over the weekend(many thanks Andy from EBC).Ok. I've put about 100 road miles on them now (so still bedding in really):

My initial reaction to them had been they were bloody awful - no bite, no feel etc.

However.....as the miles go on they get better and better.
They seem to give a nice progressive pedal once they've got a little bit of warmth in them (just from general driving, not hooning) and I found them very easy modulate. Just for the hell of it I even did a good stretch of purely left foot braking just to see how easy they were under foot: nice'n smooth, no grabbiness.
When you lean on them they certainly pull the car up well, again reacting very well to what you ask of them and, again, being easy to modulate (better than 1144) and I found it very easy to 'feel' what was going on too.
Worked well in the wet and no squeel from them either.
All in all I'm very pleased so far.
Lets see how they are in another couple of hundred miles and how they fare at Snetterton next month.

I know some may say that I'm bound to post about them favourably as they were sent to me foc (along with a set of discs - thanks Andy). However, I should point out that I've never been a fan of the Greenstuff pads on my Elise much preferring Mintex 1144 (which the yellows are nearer in price to) and have tried to be fair. I've come straight from a set of Mintexx 1144 all round with about 3-4mm left on them. The offer from Andy came after I cheekily mailed him after he defended his product on here in an earlier thread (which being old I can't find!).

Cheers for the review.

Be interesting to hear how they fare after long term usage i.e. pad wear rate, how aggressive they are on the disc, etc.

A good test for them will be the upcoming trackday. smile

Nice one tipper. Always good to see people try new products. Far too many people on forums slate things they have not even tried ! Its like me trying out Pro-tech suspension. Somehow has to bite the bullit and try stuff, and in this case they were excellent value for money. Sure when I have to re-new again I will probably go for nitrons, but money at the time was an issue, still cant fault them though and only cost me £350

I've been tempted to try the Mintex 1155 pads too. Keep us posted on the yellowstuff review!

Oly.

To be fair, no one I can recall slated Yellow-Stuff pads, only Green Stuff. If they're a decent pad, then all the better. I have SBS Protrack on the new car and they compare very favourably to Pagids on road, and are much better than 1144's. I look forward to give them a workout at Brands next month. Look forward to reading your update post-Snett Tim thumbup

Well as Tipper started a new thread, I will add my review to this one.

Please bare in mind that I am not mechanically minded, nore someone that knows what makes a cars do, what it does. I am a true car nut, I want, but dont really care how it does it. Having said all that here goes.

I also was luck enough to receive a free set of Yellowstuff, so had them replace the Lotus pads. The Lotus pads were by no means worn out, however I have been less than pleased with the overall braking capabilities of the car, so decided to change straight away.
The first 100 miles were interesting, you have to wear off the red bedding in layer, so breaking takes a bit of planning.
I am now upto 1100miles with them and I must admit to being very pleased with them. They are a noticable improvement over the Lotus pads, when cold and a considerable improvement once they start to get warm(Achieved by just town driving). I have managed to go out once in the last 5 weeks for a blast and the brakes managed to get a decent work out. During this trip, the brakes really seemed to show their stuff. Excellent stopping power and no fade.

From the above experience I would certainly recommnend these, over the standard Lotus pads, will have to see what others make of them when compared to Mintex and Pagids
(Anyone got a set of Mintex/Pagids they want me to test)

OK so its not a great review, but the short version is, yes I think they are good. They are better than the Lotus version, yes I'd buy them, but I would like to try others
