Welcome to the club. You'll get used to strange noises and smells, the paranoia will only last a month or so! hehe

Now get over to www.eliseparts.com and get ordering the upgrades!!!

Looks great. I picked up my S2 on Wednesday and had the same initial thoughts about little rattles. What can you expect from a car with a carbon fibre shell? I'm quite used to it now, too much sensory overload elsewhere to concentrate on squeaks and rattles!

nice car...but 11K in 6 years !? ...I hope its not on original rubber, if it is, then get it changed ASAP as it really wont be that good anymore ...thats the problem with low mileage cars, all the niggles may not be sorted and nothing upgraded from stock as its never worn out !

Edit to add - it should have had its cam belt changed at 4 years old too...did the previous owner bother to spend the £500 and get that C service done?

Just checking, you dont want any nightmares with your first Elise !smile

Belt done. Got all bills, mot's,service records from new.

WIll get it checked out soon by an expert, have set some money aside to replace worn bits..

It is the original tyres, I know they need changed and I will but I will not be driving it fast/hard sosoon so they will do for the summer months. There's no cracking of the rubber etc, sidewalls ok,,,,

Clams aren't CF, they are fibreglass smile But yes, sounding like it's going to rattle itself apart is part and parcel of Elise/Exige ownership unless you're really really dedicated in eliminating them (it's been known to drive people slightly mad trying to eliminate the last rattle or two).

After years of driving Japanese cars I was a bit of a shock to be able to hear everything that was happening to the car. You can hear the mechanical bits doing their thing and you can hear important bit's of the dash and trim trying to make a bid for freedom.

As Hollywood said the paranoia lasts about a month before you realise "they're all like that"

I've had mine about a month:
