Hello, gave the car a nice summer clean tonight, and noticed inside there is some sticky residue, left by some strong velcro being left in the sun too long, behind the seats.

It's just above the interior light and on the 'tray' behind the seats.

I tried warm soapy water but no joy. Any tips or hints?

Thanks.

WD-40. Cleaner of the moment for me. Removes tar, brake dust, glue, you name it "it's gone". Seriously, WD-40 will remove anything!

3M adhesive remover or "Goo Gone" are both made for removing unwanted glue residues. Whatever you use, it is a good idea to try a little on a hidden area first.

Cool cheers all, I'l try the WD-40 and white spirit first. As I have these kicking around in the garage. But I might buy some 'Goo gone' because I love the name!wink

Surgical spirit is good, better is autoglym tar remover. (probably wont damage the interior.
After cleaning condition the surface with whatever is correct for the material.

The plastic panel behind the seats is made from ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), so using white spirit is OK for that job. Whatever you do, DON'T use cellulose or PU thinner.

Very unlikely. White spirit isn't exactly strong. Just dab a tiny bit on a cloth and give it a rub. If it is ever going to remove it will remove it within 3 seconds.

WD40 will also probably do it

WD40 is great, but does leave a residue that dust & dirt has a tendency to stick to. The best thing for cleaning stuff off the aluminimum (and for cleaning bug debris!) are baby wipes! Amazing what they will clean off! Mum's wouldn't put them near baby's bottom if they'd seen what I'd managed to clean off of cars with baby wipes!!

Yep WD40 is the daddy, worked a treat. Now I can go over the whole area with interior stuff so it all looks that clean!

Thanks.
