Anyone see it? £27k for a re-trimmed, re-painted, "as-new" S1 with a honda ct-r conversion, nitrons etc.

Anyone considering it?

Aye, I know there are plenty of honda conversions but this is the first time I've seen a company selling an as-new car with a reset odometer...

£27k seems a lot...

not convinced that's legal....

also, I would suggest that's copyright infringment (of Lotus trandmarks)

seems about right, although it depends on the base car used, I didnt know that they re-set the odo - thought that was illegal?

If they use a the oldest S1 then it would be expensive...also depends a lot on various options,m and exactly what they have replaced to call it 'new' etc....Id sooner do my own.

I know MSC have done a few cars like this for people new to Elise ownership, who wanted the ultimate track weapon straight out....so they sourced an early S1/S2, and basically rebuilt it with Honda etc for them...but Im sure they would have been nearer £35K if SC and everything done to them !

either lots of detail missing from that list or they dont do stuff like fit a new ally rad, oil cooler amongst other stuff...I reckon it still wants another few grand spending on it !

It would not be copyright infringement (the clue is at the end of your post smile ).

As for trade mark infringement, it is a refurbished Elise. Whilst Lotus could have a go, I don't rate their chances of success. The Elise is so more more than the engine alone.

Personally, I'd go to the people who have spent lots of time and money on R&D. Pointless on re-inventing the wheel and as the likes of Maidstones and Sinclairs have bodyshops, they could provide exactly the same service.

That's my penneth and I have no association with any of these businesses.

If they replace the old, with new and leave it at zero, that would be one way round it. I know that is a legal option to circumvent the law on resetting

Having reviewed the spec I think they've missed a few tricks.

I'm sure a redesign of the soft top could be a unique selling point.

idea Does anyone work in an industry that could manufacture lower profile S1 cross-struts ? I'm thinking of getting my roof refurbed and wondered if I could redesign for a flatter profile.

I'm sure Exmoor Trim (Land Rover speiclaists) might be able to help - they have a good reputation for doing one-off custom jobs.

I'm sure it would be popular for all the s1 owners out there...
