Bit of a boring one really but am looking for some holdalls to fit in the Exige & had thought of getting the Lotus ones as they seem OK for price. It does mention on the Lotus website that they fit in an elise/exige boot but wondered whether I could fit more than 1 in, maybe 2 or 3?

My wife and I are going to tour western France for 2 weeks, so I've just bought 2 x 75 litre holdalls from Milletts - black, £14.99 each, but were offered as two for the price of one! They're roughly 12" wide, 12" high and 24" long. Light weight and when not packed to bulging capacity, the two fitted perfectly when I tried them out (2003 S2 Elise type 49) - and left some space behind the wheel arches for soft loose items. It'll be a challenge for my wife to live with so few clothes, but roll on September!

im going away for two nights this weekend (good drive through Wales) to celebrate the arrival of my Exige and my missus WILL NOT get everything she needs in the boot. Im wearing all the clothes that i plan to take on top of each other to free up boot space for her.

I might end up looking at Millets but Lotus ones would be nice & are only £9 so not that expensive

Just tell her she doesn't need the hair dryer & kitchen sink then you should be OK

Bad luck hueandcry71, my wife pleasantly surprised me by her willingness to cut back; must be thought of the great food, wine, scenery and driving roads.

On a related issue, where is the coolest (relatively speaking) part of the boot. Does the heat just permeate from the engine area in general, or from the exhaust underneath. Just thinking of where to put any heat sensitive items - who knows, we may even have room to bring back a bottle or some cheese!

The Millets bags are black nylon, and are light weight material and not at all bulky, so have the advantage of maximising what you can pack in, rather than using boot space for the fabric of the bags themselves. They're also flexible, so fit themselves to the irregular space well.

Wouldn't it be nice to have real Lotus bags though? These are still just nylon holdalls which squash down flat.
Or should I just stick Lotus labels over the millets logo?

I have a lotus holdall. It is a good bag and well made. If I didnt already have one, £9 quid is a steal. I cant say I would pack it for a long trip. It is more of a medium sized gym bag.

The best and most efficient way to pack the boot is to "pack the boot". A variety of bags of different sizes that you can cram into the corners of the boot.

Could I get 2 of them into the exige boot as I am only looking at weekends away?

erm, so big we wondered if it would actually fit in the boot... it probably will, but will take up the whole space.

I hadn't realised they were that large from the photo on the website

That is correct. Use 1 "elise" bag and several smaller ones. It does work.

Just had a look at these and they seem pretty good value, that is until you realise Lotus charge you more for delivery that the bag itself costs banghead £21.68 in total silly

However there is light at the end of the tunnel - check out Bell and Colvill £15.69 all in. Bargain thumbup
