So I'm about to get new plates put on and what is the deal with the little EU flag on the left hand side? Any legal requirement or just for show? Or does it save having to put GB stickers on when abroad?

Any ideas?

Haven't a clue but seeing all the French, Spanish, Polish, Latvian etc plates in Plymouth yesterday made me think our plates are another example of the 'little England' mentality.

AFAIK saves having to muck about with stickers when abroad ..first thing I do with a new car - get new plates, with the GB on them, without the dealers advertising etc, ahd a 3/4 sized front smile

Pretty sure there's no legal requirement, but as others have said, saves f@rting about with stickers.

if you go driving abroad a lot (I was going about 6 times a year) its another thing thats already taken care of, so if you get some new plates, have euro insurance sorted, have euro AA cover yearly, then on a Thursday night you decide to go to France for the weekend, you dont have to do anything other than drive to the tunnel smile
