S1 or S2

I'm looking to buy my first Elise. I have about 10k to spend give or take abit. I think that would get me an early S2 or a really peachy S1 111s. The car would be for weekend use only and garaged otherwise. My concern is wether the early S2 on high mileage would be a liablillity in terms of reliabillity etc. Does the S2 interior, mechanincals etc handle the mileage better than the S1's. I think my mind is set on an S1 111s, but I just have to be sure about the S2's.

S1 all the way (not that im biased)

If its a toy then the S1 is more hardcore, more fun (oversteers more than the S2).

For that money, erm, I'd get a VX220.

Why not use one of the existing threads (S1/S2/VX220) ? Of course you want an S1 111S I actually spent £10k on mine (incl. purchase), and now it has adjustable Nitron suspension and drives lovely.

I think this summarises your decision for me. You get to pick from some of the very best S1's or the very cheapest S2's. I know what I'd prefer. Unless you are dead set on an Elise, a VX220 is well worth a look at this budget as well.

Agree, but it is hard not to buy the badge isn't it? I actually love the look of the VX as well...

Contact Stevo96 who has an excellent S2 for sale at £10k. Its a good price as he is emigrating to Oz soon.

I think thats the bigger battle, as for me unless its in black VX220 is starting to look dated.

S1 (I use mine as my everyday car, without finding it any problem at all). The only thing I would swap it for at the moment is an S1 111S.

Go for a sorted S1 mate, don't buy some 10K crate of an S2.....

For £10k S1. Thats what they cost regardless of purchase price: Keep the change for replacing worn out bits - don't worry most Elises are like Trigger's Broom
