Bit confused as to whether mine was one of the SVA or WVTA cars....

The last four digits of my VIN number are between 0601 and 0650 - therefore indicating that it is one of the SVA cars.

However, there is no "N00001" stamped on the right hand side of the engine block. Furthermore, the fourth digit of my VIN number is G, which according to this website should be a "K" for 160 spec http://www.lotus-elise.nl/Buyers_Guide/Differences...

Few observations on the car - very irratic idle and has stalled in cold weather occasionally, indicating that it has the GEMs ECU (furthermore, there does not seem to be a EFI unit in the boot). Looking down onto the exhaust I notice that it says Janspeed (as far as I know, the exhaust has not been changed from factory specification). Lastly, there is a single air intake through the passenger side intake.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Try here: http://www.elises.co.uk/models/sport160/index.html
If yours is an SVA it would have been a single air box anyway, most of the WVTA cars were converted anyway. You are correct about the VIN number, on my reg document it has "K" meaning Sport 160, there is a part in the Lotus services manual. If you want to PM me your number i can look up each digit and then come back to you with exactly what the numbers and digits tell you.

Cheers

OK, I have a white sticker situated in the front bonnet, over the left wheel arch which says "Type approved using UK SVA scheme".

Is this what you have wetny?

Also, this morning I have spotted the GEMS ECU in the engine bay. Surely the fact that I have this, a single airbox, a VIN Serial number between 0601 and 0650 and this white sticker, would suggest that my car is an SVA.

It's just confusing when the Engine Type digit on the VIN is "G".

Thanks again all.
