With the 195 fronts + 225 rears being so poupular, especially on 111S, I started to wonder whether such wide tyres are best for such a light car. Obviously the danger of hitting standing water is an arugment for narrower tyres, but how about handling/adjustability on both road and track ? Would be good to share your experiences and opinions.

I'm interested in this as well. The VX220 and S2 came with 175 fronts so 195 on the S1 is a major step up. If going down to a narrower front tyre was a significant improvement I'd be interested.

A narrower front tyre will make the car safer to drive, not as oversteery as is commonly described with the S1.

Personally I prefer a car to oversteer, and on track this will certainly be quicker.

It's common knowledge that wider fronts tend to grip better at least with 0deg camber. But I wonder if simply having both narrower fronts & rears wouldn't work better, such as: 185(or175) & 205 as opposed to 195 & 225.
