What are people's thoughts on the Reverie Exige?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/661618.htm

If it were in say Chrome Orange, would it be a better proposition than say a 2006 Exige S? At the end of the day it is a modified car which causes all sorts of <potential> problems with reliability / servicing / limited insurance market etc, but on the plus side it is more individual than a standard Exige S.... And thoughts on pricing?

its a cool car and quite well known, belongs to junks on Seloc.

its like any modified car really and as you can see from the ad you dont have to have it in that colour

its not to my tastes, some bits are, others arnt ..but thats why I modded my own car

its worth whatever someone wants to pay that wants one in that spec/look

the cost of doing any mods like that yourself are many, many thousands (colour change would be like £3k+) so if you want a car pre-done then its always better to buy one rather than DIY

The Komotec conversion was carried out by Greg at hanger 111, very reliable and a sound chap who ive known a while. I've seen this car many times during and after when the conversion was at hanger being carried out. A lot of time and effort went into it and its a great conversion.

I also know simon at reverie, he uses very good quality carbon fibre to make his products, i have some of his bits on my car. again a very reliable and trusting chap who will spend hours getting the car just right.

As bogie said, the car comes with many options to choose from as per junks ad, just a case of what your personal taste is biggrin

Havinnng seen it in the flesh - that car is a dogs dinner, after it went through the dog. A vile pile of ribbish that has ruined every attractive line on the car.

Absolutely agree. Looks like a bag of st3. You will not do better than a good, clean, unmodified Exige S. It really doesn't need anything doing to it at all. In Ardent Red - now that really is the dogs danglers.

laugh I think it looks a lot better in the 'metal' than in photos. I think the aero mods have been tunnel tested and do work.

I have seen it in the flesh. It looks worse. Far worse. What was done to that car is automotive vandalism. The mods work? great, all that extra whatever must be fantastic.

Im sure if you asked Simon at reverie or Junks they'll tell you the wind tunnel testing figures... From what i remember they were very impressive clap

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder..... whatever you think the car has been very well done indeed. Spent a lot of time in the wind tunnel with genuine downforce without too much drag added - ex Nissan development engineer (c.v. includes skyline uk) tuned the handling and was really impressed with the results of the widebody conversion.

He keeps toying with the sale but also threatens to strip the bits and sell them separately...... anyone interested should speak to him. Well worth a look around it biggrin

Oh and as for price - all options are less than the cost of the work involved.....

Don't worry we'll pop along and critise your property next time you're selling - didn't your mum ever tell you "if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all"...........

I like marmite - others dont'

The OP asked for "thoughts". Junks is very aware that the car is "marmite", as he & I have discussed it on numerous occasions - face to face, I hasten to add.

IMHO you shouldn't care a toss what others think, if YOU like it, do the best deal you can, & then enjoy driving it.

Marmite - def a good way to describe that car.

To me it looks like one helluva ugly beast and I wouldnt be seen dead owning it, however... It looks like the aero kit Reverie have added and the testing done has been done for the purpose of adding downforce.

So if I wanted a car for the road then maybe a standard Exige/S, but the Reverie is definitely suited (IMHO) to those into serious track days and insane cornering ability!

Ugly can be beautiful?!

I happen to like it, having seen it in the flesh it really is rather well done, if i had to be critical i would say the only thing i dont like would be the canards.Regarding the mods for downforce everything is proven to work, and if im correct did'nt randy buy a reverie wing for his race winning exige? not a bad endorsement!

Gooby/Mcspud/Silent

I'm sorry you don't like it (actually I'm not) but no car is to everyones taste & no matter how a car is modified there will always be someone who disagrees with the outcome, it is why we all like different cars & why we don't all drive around in the same thing.

Obviously I happen to like it & the modifications made were made primarily for motorsport as this is the area in which Reverie in particular aim most of their business.

All the testing figures & results are there on the Reverie site for evryone to see & I dare say will help some of the guys racing these cars with their decisions

The author of the thread asked for opinions but I rather think he would have hoped for something a little more constructive instead of the unhelpful ones which are very obviously subjective (which means its based on personal feelings rather than fact btw wink)

Anyway enjoy your standard cars, we need those on track too to give us something to pass

rofl I have to laugh, okay the "junkstered" car may not be to everyones taste but then some people don't like stripes, others don't like painted wheels. It's down to the individual. At least aero mods serve a purpose. Me with stripes and other cosmetic stuff means nothing in terms of performance but I like it.
