Hi Guys,

whats the best way to polish out a scratch on my beloved elise? Would t-cut be complete sacrilege?

No, not completely but there are possibly better ways. Post a pic and I'm sure you'll get some suggestions.

lots of ways, and lots of products ...the detailers section on Selco is good for this stuff as a couple of pro guys hang out there and can offer advice

Don't use T-cut, please! It can really damage modern paintwork that stuff.

I used Chemical Guy block and lube. It is the best for very light scratches.

Then I use Collinite's No840 Colour Up Prewax Cleaner. Then their hard wax polish.

Meguiars Scratch X is very highly recommended, never used it myself though.

I've found that although good, Scratch-X only really works with a machine polisher. Takes a hell of a lot of work by hand.

T-cut is good if your car lost its shine/colour which happenes often with older (>10 years) and especially red cars as I have experienced.

to be honest, I havnt come across anything that will take scratches out, without the use of a machine polisher frown

I think Scratch-x has some fillers in it too, so is a good product for the amateur to use by hand to reduce the appearance of scratches, rather than remove altogether
