Dont know much about tyres but im about to buy a new set, had a decent price quoted (£430 delivered)for a set of the above.

Car is used daily with a mixture of road types.

yup - a fine cheaper choice to A048s ...a better all round road tyre though is the Yoko A039 - shame they are more expensive than A048s frown

£430 is the best price you'll find for a full set (I hunted high and low).

R888s are indeed a fine tyre and you'll not notice any difference on the road (if anything their wet weather clearing is slightly better).

I have them on my Exige S, and have just bought 2 new rears ready for a blast around Europe biggrin

Good deal - bit of a long way for me to travel for the £20 fitting wink Had mine done by a trusted local place for about £50 all in.

Bought my R888s from here too - absolutely brilliant on the Exige, and capable in the wet.

Pat, you don't track the car do you? Wouldn't a set of good road tyres be much better for everyday use? I don't track my car, but I've always read that 888's are no good on the road unless really warm, and they last literally half as long as road tyres? I'm sure someone will correct me if this is wrong....

Goodyear Eagle F1's are a popular road tyre for an Exige. Not used them myself on a Lotus but used them on various cars in the past. Great in the wet but not as progressive or grippy in the dry. Still more than adequate for everyday driving.

They do last half as long as road tyres (6k miles ish for the rears), however I think they are "ok" in terms of needing to be warmed up. When they're hot, they're bloody unbelievable, but when they're not hot they feel absolutely fine - you certainly dont think you're driving on ice!
