Hi,
Had a search around and couldn't find anything - sometimes the boot won't shut and I think it's because the boot release cable is sticky. Can the cable be lubricated or does it need to be replaced?

Cheers,
Brad

ETA I've read it's a common problem, it's just that I couldn't find anything specific about how to look after the cable.

If the cable has never been changed, put a new one on. They are easy to fit!

By the time you've removed enough to lubriate it you might as well change it for a new one. (Try some lubricant at the T-handle end first)

When you say won't shut, do you mean won't stay shut or you can't shut the boot? If the boot can't actually be shut, its likely to be that the catch is mis-aligned. It can be adjusted but is a bit of trial and error process.

If the catch is not engaging. check that the boot end of the cable is sitting correctly in its hole and also, as others have said, that your cable and catch are well greased and free moving.
