Just sold my S1 with a sports exhaust to a really nice guy from Milan who came all the way over to the UK to collect it. Looking to replace it with possibly a 111R. There are 2 or 3 which I'm watching that could be of interest. The question is will I be disappointed with the sound from a standard factory fitted exhaust on a 111R after living with a sports exhaust on my sadly departed S1.

I have a larini on mine - sounds great - Let me know if you would like a test of it.

Larini or 2bular _ you will not be disappointed on a 111r, especially at 2nd cam.

My reckoning is you will.

The standard exhaust on the 111R is extremely tame.

The standard exhaust is very disappointing. I came from a S2 k series and could not believe the 111R sounded like a hairdryer.

A larini fixed the problem but if i was redoing it I may go tubular.

Old exhaust

Fitting the larini

I have had it on for over 2 yrs sounds great.

You can hear some sound clips i did here.

didn't you need to have the ecu remapped after a sports cat?

if not wouldn't you get better results if you did?

i only ask as i'd love to give my car the full works, exhaust, sports cat, induction but I'm pretty sure it will need a remap and past experience has shown it's a difficult thing to get done properly. As a result I'm sticking with my lotus stage 1, which frankly, is too quiet and barely any different to standard. I ordered a stage 2 but a stage 1 was fitted. Don't ask! However, just to confuse things, I was later told by a friend (with a stage 2) who visited the factory that the car runs better with a stage 1, presumably because it could do with a remap.

Lotus do an ecu swap (available at hangar 111) that lowers the cam change to 5700 and is designed for use with sports pipes and induction kit. Just over 200 bhp is the figure that's supposed to be attainable. However I'm pretty sure that for best results you need a rolling road set up.

Possibly a remap would improve it. As i said its been on the car for over 2 yrs with no probs and i got a good deal on a group buy. I gave up chasing horsepower as the only real improvement would be FI and i have to many other expensive interests including a baby daughter.
