I know this is a very basic question but so I don't do something dumb I was hoping for a good website for instructions on changing the front pads on my S2 111s.

I've found http://wiki.seloc.org/a/SELOC_TechWiki very informative on many basic Elise "how to's" but nothing on changing the pads.

I've done it a million times on motorcycles etc and just wanted to know if there is something I should look out for.

Having just cost myself £70 when I broke that stupid little plastic clip on my front indicator, I'm nervous about not having the knack of it!!!

Pretty straightforward, just don't lose the anti-rattle spring on the rears (it tends to shoot out if you're not careful).

Once you've done it you'll realise how easy it really was and regret not having done it yourself for years hehe

That's the one I used actually. Better than a Haynes manual it was.

In Haynes speak, this is a one spanner job. The trickiest thing is jacking the car up.

No mention in any of the guides of lightly chamfering the edges of the new pads when they are installed with part worn discs?

Thanks for all the advice, I'm pleased to announce that the process went perfectly except that my old jack wouldn't fit under the car. Even the new jack only just fits which raises a question for those of you who run a reduced ride height.

I fitted Mintex pads and in the absence of a formal bedding in procedure I've been out and run through a series of braking stops lasting about 4 seconds at about 50% full braking. After about 20 or so of these I tried at higher speeds with greater braking force and all seemed good.

One thing I did notice was how uneven the pad wear was. The outside front left was absolutely knackered, almost to metal...eeeek! However the front right pads still had a lot of meat on them. I've seen reports that this is normal but wondered if there was more to it than that?

Simplest way to get past this is to drive the car onto a piece of wood (doesn't need to be tall, barely 1/2" or so, and that's enough to make a difference thumbup

That's what I was guessing would be the simplest method.
