Hi all

I have an S2 111S (K series VVC one) and I've noticed that gear selection is a little notchy/stiff. It doesn't feel like a linkeage issue and it's possible that I'm just getting picky as I get used to the car. It also gets worse when the car is in traffic and has got hot.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of changing the gearbox oil before the C service or using any additives to help smooth things a little.

yes, I changed the oil on my car to Castrol TAF-X and it did help smooth it out a lot, I also had the Eliseparts linkage kit and shortshift later - wouldnt have been without them in the end smile

I'm sure its nothing to worry about, and more than likely to do with the linkage.

try fitting this to see if it helps.

and while your at it slap this on.

Both of these kits together makes a big difference to the shift quality.

I've been looking at that linkeage set, did you fot it your self? There's not much to it but I haven't even looked at how hard it is to get at etc etc

yes you can fit it yourself if you have some ramps and a jack, some patience and dont mind getting your hands mucky ...its can be quite fiddly to get adjusted correctly if you havnt done a few before, so you may end up in the car, try the gears, back out of the car etc...all afternoon wink

personally I just prefer to pay £50 labour and save the hassle wink

from the sound of it I think I'll pay a man £50 and have a chilled day ;-)
