Hi there folks, would anyone happen to know the dimensions of the S1 (and S2 if u have it) engine bay?

I can't seem to find anything on the net.

Also where would be the best place to buy an S1 with a busted engine?

Cheers,
Olie

depends on what you call the "engine bay" ...do you mean the plastic boot opening and engine would have to fit through if dropping it in with the clam on, do you mean the width between current engine mounts, do you mean the width of the rear subframe...the Elise/Exige dosent really have an engine bay like a regular car - it just has a hole, supported by bits here and there, with a plastic body that goes on top on other bits wink

seriously, if you are looking at buying an Elise to put a new (different) engine in, youd best measure one up with a standard engine first, and see what the dimensions are...or get a workshop manual with the std Rover K in ....you wont find many Toyota cars for sale with busted engines yet wink

Sorry, was a bit vague.

Yes if i could have the dimensions between the engine and gearbox mounts, space front to rear at narrowest point, height of the bay (or mounts to lid) and general dimension of "the hole" please.

Pics of an empty bay would be great aswell.

Currently do engine swaps for another vehicle and am contemplating using the engine in an S1 if it will fit.

Somehow i don't think a V12 would be fitting. In any sense of the word.

Think half of that.

And yes, i know there'll be easier ways to make bigger power and wotnot but my reasons are purely for sound, torque, reliability and cost.

Just intrigued as to whether it will fit or not and thought some of you may know?

Well, people have done V6 installs, bit I would suggest that cost is not going to be small for this...

The Atom V8 is pretty small I think.

Aren't the Audi V6 conversions mounted length ways as opposed to being fitted transversally, so the chassis is lengthened?
