All,

I am looking for some extra downforce but without destroying the lines of the Elise (S2 111S).

So far I've found a good front splitter in carbon fibre from Eliseparts http://www.eliseparts.com/shop/index.php?main_page...

But I'm struggling to find a rear wing that doesn't look OTT. The wing that seems to look great on my S1 just doesn't have the same appeal for me on the S2. What I'd ideally like is something similar the S2 Exige one. Here's the one I'm not too happy with http://www.eliseparts.com/shop/index.php?main_page... adjust spoiler_01_LRG.jpg

I don't totally hate it and I understand it's the one to have from a performance pov. It's juata bit...well....blatant ...lol!

you dont need one - the front splitter will do fine, just get some rake on the car by adjusting your ride height

...unless of course you are running on 700lb springs, slicks and need the 40Kg or so from a real wing when cornering at 140mph on track?

if you race an Elise then sure - fit a motorsport wing, cut holes in the rear clam and mount it to the chassis - anything flopping around on the plastic bodywork is next to useless and just for show

That's a spoiler not a wing. I doubt it actually does anything, although I could be wrong.

That spoiler might do something - reattachment of flow at very high speed, which because it is cantilevered aft of the rear axle means significant downforce might be generated - or more relevantly lift might be avoided if it wasnt there. having said that the back of the elise already has a flow reattachment curve so it is gilding the lily IMO.

The best device would be a lip extension right at the top of the existing boot edge, this would do 3 things,
a) ensure flow reattachment
b) make that attachment even further aft of the axle
c) not increase drag

The original Audi TT was shaped like an aircraft wing and took off, quite literally, at the ring / autobahn. That little hook spoiler they added ensured flow reattachment and lift minimisation, FR is very important at high speed!!

yes, id stick to that one if any on a Series 2 Elise....it does do something, if just reducing lift ...no point in a big, wide spoiler, unless you cut holes in the clam and fasten it to the chassis....otherwise, how does your 100kg of downforce make it through...via the clam..? ...and then of course, youd better be upping your rear spring rate to compensate, otherwise that will run out under high speed cornering

...its very easy to talk about "50kg" or "100kg" without thinking about what it really means - for a practical demo, get 4 x 25kg bags of cement and try to lift them on the back of the car and see what happens and where you might need reinforcement wink

ETA: the SC Elise wing is about £400 unpainted from the Bell & Colville webshop
