Thought I'd mislaid my code for the Blaunpunkt in my Europa, turned out it was in the boot.

Anyway, its always been a bit touch & go if its going to come on correctly, and today it was driving my round the bend with the buttons locking up, display corrupting etc....

It seems to be the when I press a button, the removable fascia sort of flexes and it loses power crashing the unit.

Anyone have similar and anyone got a solution ?

I think this problem is mechanical rather than electronic...

Thanks
Rog

I have the same issue. I resort to bashing it a few times. As it is not the best head unit in the world I will probably change it.

If anyone is interested I've solved the problem.

Its a mechanical thing, and where the removable head unit front meets the top of the head unit - it flexes and causes electrical connections (which are lower down where it hinges) to break.

I put a sticky pad on the back of the removable front and this stops the flexing when its pushed and now I get perfect electrical connection no matter how hard I push on the front or its buttons.

Cheers

I can't explain what's wrong with it, but you might want to substitute it with a different one if it keeps going wrong anyway anyhow anywhere.
biggrin

Bugger I wasn't quick enough.

Just realised my solution description may be a bit confusing.

I used some double sided sticky pads that are usually used for mouting mirrors, whiteboards etc.. onto walls.

They are around 2 to 3 mm thick and spongy in texture.

I put it on the removable fascia, and left the peel-off bit on the outer surface so it doesnt stick to the radio unit.

Any household product that flexes to a degree would do I guess - I was originally going to fold up some paper and use that, but remembered I had the sticky buds lying around and they happened to work fine.
