I thought it was just the "AA" with a fancy dresssed up name so presumably normal AA rules apply and you could get a Europe upgrade to the policy , no?

Used it twice in Germany. The contact number on the card is for AA Europe and ADAC attend. Don't expect much from them in the way of repair. They have a quick look and then take you to the nearest dealer. May be worthwhile finding the addresses of any dealers on the way as they (AA or ADAC) general haven't got any idea themselves. Not sure where you stand if you have to travel back to UK and leave your car in Europe though.

I had to make use of the AA in Europe once. Nice chap called Frank from the Swiss Touring Club turned up. He spoken broken English to me and I spoke broken German to him. Cambelt tensioner had failed in a big way, so nice and easy to show him that the engine was rather "kaput".

As I had to be back in the UK two days later, I left the car with Frank at the STC compound.

Although I've since cancelled my AA policy and gone with Europ Assist, their European cover was pretty good. All phone calls in English with their european handlers, hire car could be sorted out no problems. Returning - I would have had to swap hire cars in each country for the return trip, so they said it would be easier to book me a flight and trains homes if we wanted it. So, they booked and paid for flights back from Geneva, and trains etc., at both ends. Not even an 'excess' for the value of petrol we would have had to use driving back!

The car turned up back in the UK about twelve days later, direct to a garage.

Very, very efficient. Some people thought that was too long to wait to get the car back - but I had no problem, considering the car had to travel back some 850 miles door-to-door, which cannot have been cheap!

Luckily, I've not had to test Europ Assist's cover and service either in the UK or Europe, but if it was anything like as good as the AA, I would be very impressed.

Not much to do with the original post, but that story always brings back some memories smile

A friend had his Gallardo Spider in Monoco when the E-Gear decided to give up...AA Euro Cover payed for a helicopter to the airport and travel home. Think he had to cough up the money up front on the Credit card but was refunded later...

Phil - You're covered, I phoned them before my first trip of the year and they said it's fine. I haven't bothered taking out any other forms of assistance as they said my Lotus cover was good enough for recovery of the car should it break.
