Ayup,

My s1 has been a bit of a garage queen as I have another daily driver, o thought about selling both and going for a Europa.. Then I decided not to..

Going to try and use the S1 a bit more and my question is, if I get a Hard top for the S1, will this stop the leaking when the car is stood still during a heavy down-poor? Or does it still do it?

If it solves the problem I might just have to put the bilstein kit on hold!

I have a hardtop and love it... It stops rain gettign in stood still... but there's always the risk of roof "run-off" when you open the door.

yeah, not bothered too much about it running in when I open the door.. as long as I can leave the car outside work in the rain without it fillin up with water!!

If water getting in when its raining hard and the car is parked is your issue, save yourself 500 quid and get a shower cape. Mine goes on when I know its gonna bucket down and usually sorts it out.

Agree - or just ride a motorbike (or worse, a pushbike) for a couple of weeks.....you will never thing badly about the Elise soft top again, if you try bikes in the rain smile

Mind you, the hard top looks good, methinks. They are just so outrageously overpriced, even 2nd hand.

( If you do buy, black makes a lot of sense as it will be easier to sell on )

Pah, I have only a soft top & leave it out all year round. The secret is to fit it correctly in the first place & you should be ok.

Wouldn't be without mine, keeps out some of the road noise, doesn't leak at all and just gives the cabin a nice coupe feel for those winter mornings.

My CF one is pretty good (A B&C one I got 2nd hand"). It keeps the car completely dry and has gutters so no run off when you open the door! It is a bit boomier (noisier) than the soft top although my soft top is lined so quite quiet.

Don't trust a man's opinion about water leakage when his forum name is "subaqua" rofl

Although I put the hardtop back on my car yesterday, I've never had a single drop leak in from the soft top. If it's properly waterproofed and fitted it should be 100% effective.
