Hi guys, and gals,
I've just been offered 15,500 for my Elise S (2007), from a lotus garage to upgrade with them. Now I could sell the car private, but i'm wondering if it's worth it? It's a buyers market at the moment surely, so would the difference in money could be negligable or possibly could it take months to sell?
Can I have some opinions on valuation. It's a standard S (Yota motor), 2007, just shy of 17,000 mls. Standard interior, air con, and pipercross VIS kit fitted. Oh and around 6 months warranty left.
I don't think i'm being ripped off by the garage at all. Just wonder what a private sale might get me instead.
Any replies greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Sonic

I recently asked SELOC about my 56 plate Elise S Chrome Orange VIS induction and 2Bular Exhaust, 23k miles. consensus was about 16k so youre getting reasonable money probalby get 500-1000 more private but it will be a hastle to sell at the moment make sure you beat them down on the one youre buying though
oh I do have the touring pack and black 111R wheels on mine
What are you upgrading to?

I had a ganders on autotrader etc and it seems like I can get minimum 17K. But of course now seems like a poo time to sell. I'm hopefully upgrading to an exige (na). But be an 06 or 05. Just want a few more horses and love the looks of the exige.
remember what it's advertised at isn't what they will get for it. I couldnt do an exige as I love taking the roof off. I take it you got on with the second cam in the NA... lots of people get the change point altered with an ECU remap. makes the power more accessable.I love my Elise S It has more power than I need on the road 90% of the time. If I were to upgrade I think id be looking at an SC, a 111R with a Katana or a Honda S2. I also have a hankering for an S1 111S or S160 or something thats engine has been fettled but in the real world as an only car the S2 is the better option for me
Oh yeah I love mine too, and I agree 90% of the time there's plenty of power there. Just would like the "option" of going onto a second cam if the mood took me. Plus I think the Exige is one of the best looking cars i've ever seen. Not that the elise isn't. It's just the exige is a little beefier.
The amount they are offering you will always be relative to the price that you are paying for the new car.
Therefore its impossible to answer your question without knowing the asking price of the car your hoping to buy,
ie if the car they are offering you is overpriced by £2k then offering you a grand less than youd get privately for your car is not a good deal, however if the price your paying for the new car is comparable or cheaper than the majority are asking for a similar spec car then id say take the px price theyve offered.
hope this helps.

Shameless plug: you can get an S for about £23K nowadays, albeit slightly high mileage but a mint example

Depending on timing why not put an ad up here on PH with an asking price of 17.5k, if you get a sale then well done, if not then carry on with your deal through the dealership. No harm in giving it a go and you may get a serious, interested buyer who is willing to pay 1k-1.5k more than the dealer is offering.
As has been said before. If you go down the dealer route then work on the negotiation
