I'm sure this has been asked before, I have the following problem a choice between

Elise R / Elise SC / Europa SE

Car will be used as second car for a bit of fun.

Please advise

If it's a second fun car, 111s.

Why just those cars?
Anyway it all depends what you're looking for. Drive as many varients as you can including the 111S, Exige R and Exige S and see what YOU think. Its even worth trying some of the S1s too: you might prefer the rawer experience.

Europa isn't a drop top so does that bother you? It isn't as good looking as the Elise - does that bother you? It has a more gunty delivery than the R does that bother you? It will lose more money than the elise - does that bother you?

Elise r always felt flat to me until the camchange. If you drive the SC you'll not buy an R IMHO.....

Best to drive them all - fun day out even if you don't buy !

Best advise is to take them for a long drive and have fun. I have a Europa and love it, I am sure lots will say the same about the Elise.

When I was looking for my Elise I called into Bell and Colvill and they got me to drive three different cars so I could learn a bit more about how they suited my requirements. I also met up with someone from this forum who took me out in their car. All of this first hand experience was essential in me choosing the right car. Do that and bury yourself in car magazines for a week and you're bound to make the right decision smile

I'll add my two pence though - I don't see the Europa as a weekend toy - it's more of a GT variant. Actually, and this is just my own opinion, if I was after a weekend toy I'd buy a bcensorede or a Cacensoredham smile

My best advice is to get down to a Lotus dealer, sit in a few, chat to the salesman and get a test drive or two lined up.

If it's for a 'bit of fun' then the SC I'd have thought, top off in the summer, great performance.
