Folks,

My 05 111R will not fire up, when you turn the key all the lights in the dash flash and it makes like a TIC..TIC..TIC..TIC.. sound.

Is that a flat battery, if so where is the battery located on these cars so that I can jump start it.

Is it the black box in the boot to the left if it is any pointers on getting the cover off??

PS - the car has not been driven for about 3 weeks, I don't usually get this issue even if its not been driven in most cases it starts fist time.

thanks

Bing, sounds like a flat battery to me.

On mine 04 S2 111s the battery is in the boot, to the left, with a cover like you describe. Just give the cover a tug, it should come off pretty easily.

I remember seeing something about jump-starting is not ideal for the Elise, but I'm guessing if done correctly it shouldn't hurt.

Get yourself a trickle charger (mains or solar) in the future as these do stop this. Cold weather and left for three weeks doesn't help the battery to retain charge.

Sounds very familiar - definatley a flat battery - in the boot to the left - had no problems fitting a charger to mine but after replacing the duff battery it went through two alternators in 6 months! (second done under warranty) - apparently on the early S2 they were a weakness but yours should be ok

I wouldnt say just "rip off the cover". Lift up the carpet around it first, the pop studs that hold the carpet down also hold the black battery cover in place.

Ah, forgot to mention that I haven't had the carpet in there for ages, that would be why I can just take mine off without any probs!

i've noticed my battery seems to get below turning over voltage if not driven for 3 weeks...

it seems a short period of time for it to drop to where it wont start... why is this? is the alarm such a drain?

My Exige S just suffered from flat battery episode this weekend as well - parked the car up on Friday afternoon & came out Saturday morning to find that battery had gone flat in under the space of 24 hours (bangs head on wall) - dont understand what could cause the battery to discharge in that short a space of time frown

Worse for me is that even after putting charge back in the battery the immobiliser now wont disarm itself so car is permanantly immobilised so will probably have to get the car taken to local dealer by flatbed AA truck now to get it sorted frown
