yota exhaust upgrade
Discussion
I just fitted a Larini "race" system, it comes as two silencer boxes one large primary box and a smaller secondary box.
The system is supplied with a straight through section to replace the secondary box.
I chose to go "Full fat" to start with and left the secondary box off in favour of the straight through section.
This option is NOT for the shy at heart! you can tootle around without too much attention being drawn but if you hit the loud pedal in anger it is just so fierce it will turn heads at a hundred feet.
Nice sound (especially when you just tickle the limiter through the gears) but would definately get on your nerves cruising at anything more than 60 mph.
I have now fitted the secondary box which has given the car a slightly lower tone to start with and with careful application of the accelerator you can cruise at 70 mph with ease and not too much drone.
Again if you hit the loud pedal in anger it is still going to turn heads.
Build quality is nice.
fitting is easy and changing the secondary box takes an hour or so to do (including dropping the diffuser and replacing).

There is not a zorst or air box that increase power on the 111R. People have claimed it but the "pudding" results on a dyno are not conclusive. The minor power gains can be put down to atmospherics.
You are down to buying for looks, sound and weight.
All of which are in spades with the 2bular product. They are hand built to your specification and finished however you like. They are VERY light and they are TiG welded (the most durable welding system and an art to get right.
I have found that the 2bular makes the engine feel more revvy and less restrained than standard.
I cant recomend 2bular enough, the sound is fantastic. In the summer I was chased across the forest b a guy on a motorbike to tell me it was the best sound he had ever heard, he even compared it against the fezza that went past and said I sounded way better. Compliments dont come better than that, personally I think he was mad, that fezza sounded great.!

Larini systems are great and they make quieter ones too The system is supplied with a straight through section to replace the secondary box.

What's the weight saving against the original zorst?
With 2bular? Considerable. To lift the Lotus stage 1 you would have to bear hug the back box and lift with your legs. It was really heavey. 2bular was a one handed job to get it off the ground. It was so much lighter you could actually feel it in the car.Gooby said:

Another vote for Jim and his work.I have just ordered a Larini "sports" exhaust for my Exige S - as it is my everyday/only car, the guy in sales reckoned it was the way to go, rather than the Club Sport, which may wear a bit thin if I wasn't in the mood (to be honest, the car itself can do that after a s
tty day at work and it's dark and raining etc).
I have opted for the twin pipe outlets as I prefer the look to the oval outlet (as I have now on the stock system), but there is a danger that people that know Lotus, may think I have an N/A car and added the S sticker?
Can't wait to get it fitted as the stock sound is very uninspiring !
