Hi y'all,

Just wondering what other elise-type owners (especially of standard-ish cars) think of Snetterton as a track? It looks like it would suit high powered cars more, compared to an obviously Elise-friendly layout like Cadwell. Is it a tad dull?

I'm thinking of doing the LoT track day coming up there. For what it's worth, it would be my first day in an Elise but I've done several days in my other car at Goodwood/Combe/Donington.

Thanks,
Brad

Not dull at all. I've done it quite a few times with LoT in a standard MX5.

Even though there's two decent long straights, it's not just a power circuit.

I've done a track day there in my Elise was a fun day but I did get frustrated as the Elise is so nimble through the corners you often get held up by other cars. The problem I had was there are only two places you can (Allowed to) overtake Pit Straight or Back Straight but other drivers don't realise how little grunt we have in a straight line so don't back off enough to let you past before the next corner.

Quite often I found I would hang back down the pit straight so I could brake later a carry more speed through the two right handers and come onto the back straight carrying enough extra speed on the exit to get along side the Porkers etc so they would get the message before they were able to boot it.

You could overtake around the outside of the long right hander just after the Bomb hole but apparently they don't like you doing this unless the other driver has given you indication they are expecting you to cruise past them on the outside.... but it is great fun lol!!!

I love it and have done it a few times..but yeah, I think in a std 120bhp Elise you could read a book down the main straight smile

it's not that bad...

with co-operation, you can pass after the 'esses', after the bomb hole and before Sears.

LOL ...gotta love some of those comments about that video wink

so just how much power do you reckon you need in an Ultima to get away from a SC Honda Elise ...650, 750bhp maybe ...550bhp clearly isnt enough wink

yea, consider that Chris's was two up, on shagged out 48's and with only 279Whp... (I was pulling 3-4 car lenghts on him up the straights - topped 160 on Revett)

Love video that Elise was awsome!

There was plenty of co-operation on that day must depend a lot on who's there on the day. Then again think I would jump out the way too if an Ultima suddenly appeared in my mirrors!!!
