Suspension question
Discussion
Hi all,
Newbie here.
Just wanted to ask a quick question about Nitron's. A friend has some on his S1 and they feel fantastic in comparison to the Konis he had before. However the spring platform that compresses or relaxes the sping is not in contact with the spring when the car is jacked up. It is only a couple of (mm) and when the wheels are on the floor the spring is under load so no problem there.
Is this OK? Normal? Anyone else do this?
Thanks

It might be worth a post on www.SELOC.org technical section. there are several people who post there and realy knows their Elise Suspension. Chris Randle from Hoffmans(sp?) has engineered his own variant on the Nitron (Randy spec Nitrons) someone there will know if you dont get the answer here first

Yes i am lead to believe this is fairly normal with Nitrons. i have read many a thread on SELOC about it. Essentially as long as the springs do not fall foul of the spring platform collar you will be fine, remember when the suspension is under load there is not gap anyway. Helper springs will also help but not sure how much they cost. Randy or SteveB on SELOC would be able to help.

tter the 1st time you jack it up, drive off and the spring "reseats" itself! Didnt fail its MOT last or this year
