How easy is it to do this? Does the wheel need to be taken off or can it be accessed from under the "bonet"
It's not for me, one of the lads at work has an s1 and isn't sure how to go about it.
any help is much appreciated
Thanks
you can do it without taking the wheel off, if you reach up between the front of the wheel and the wheel arch liner there is an access panel, pull that off and you can get to the bulb, only problem is you can't see what you are doing so it's all by feel. It's not for me, one of the lads at work has an s1 and isn't sure how to go about it.

I'm pretty sure that it shows you in the owners handbook too

The easy way to do it is to ignore the correct method and do it the lazy way.
Turn the car onto full lock so that the front of the tyre is pointing inward on the side you're replacing. Pull the rubber cap off from behind the headlight unit. You'll see a wire connector (or possibly a rubber cover which needs to come off first), pull that off. Now peel back the wheel arch liner from around the wheel arch. This should give you good access to the back of the headlight unit. You'll be able to feel a wire spring that retains the bulb (its actually two springs but feels like the same part). This is clipped in at the top and it sort squeezed forward to release. After that the bulb should be free to replace, just be careful to keep the new one clean when you fit it.

don't bother with the rubber bung thing, pull the arch liner back and stick your arm in. I find it easier with the wull on full lock TOWARDS you.
Ding, and you can tuck the liner behind the wheel.Gassing Station | Elise/Exige/Europa/340R | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
