Less and less S1 for sale???
Discussion
Has anyone else noticed that there seems to be less and less S1 Elises for sale. there was over a hundred not so long ago on Pistonheads Classifieds and now there is about 40!!
Wonder what is happening? Owners keeping hold of them? Less around due to being written off? Owneners not wanting to sell as prices are low?
I know I was thinking of selling mine but didnt as I like the car too much to let it go at the moment.
Any thoughts?

Yes, the word you are looking for is fewer.ETA: I had noticed that prices seemed to have levelled out on the S1 but I hadn't really noticed any fewer around. I'll be keeping mine for a while yet and I'm not looking to buy so it doesn't really affect me.

With the exchange rate the way it is atm,a hell of a lot of cars are going to France/Germany.
Met a guy at a dealer in Sussex who was from Gemany and had saved 12k Euros by buying his 2-11 over here and driving it home on a trailer
I personally know of 5 private sale Elise/Exiges that have been sold to Euro buyers in the last 6 months Met a guy at a dealer in Sussex who was from Gemany and had saved 12k Euros by buying his 2-11 over here and driving it home on a trailer

I noticed this too 6mths ago when I was looking on piston heads there was normally just over 100 s1’s also about 100 s2’s. now there are about 200 plus s2’s but only about 40 s1’s.
I think the s1 price has just about bottomed out maybe they will start to go back up in price compared to the early s2’s as they will soon be far more rare.

Yes, the word you are looking for is fewer."less" would only be correct if he was talking about a quantity of a substance that cannot be individually counted, i.e. sand, milk etc. "S1" is not a substance that can be measured that way.

No argument there. Economic conditions notwithstanding, this is not really the time of year to be selling.Strangely Brown said:
No, the "less" was referring to the number of S1s that are available for sale. They can be counted so the word is "fewer".

I would really love to go for a pint with you, I bet time would just fly by "less" would only be correct if he was talking about a quantity of a substance that cannot be individually counted, i.e. sand, milk etc. "S1" is not a substance that can be measured that way.

But would I drink less or fewer than if I was with someone interesting?

Ps I counted 10 grains of sand before!!!

Correct. You counted 10 grains, not 10 sand. You may find it boring but using the wrong words just makes you sound uneducated.

I'm with Strangely on the grammar question...
But back on topic; I've watched the cycle of ads for a few years now. It's definitely seasonal, and it's not just Elises... ads for Westfields, Caterhams and any of the more 'focused' open sports cars always drop off dramatically in winter.
Don't worry - they're like swallows. They'll be back in the spring.

It was the same thing when I was looking to buy my S1. I deliberately set out to purchase at the end of summer to take advantage of the depressed prices but being aware that there may well be fewer cars to choose from at that time. In reality the prices don't actually vary that much but the choice does drop (relative to spring). But back on topic; I've watched the cycle of ads for a few years now. As it turned out I was lucky and I found what I was looking for. I have no plans to move it on for the foreseeable future - 2 years in and it's still too much fun to contemplate losing - so the prices are somewhat of an irrelevance.
