Hi all.

Ive just bought a S2 111s as a daily drive, which so far i am absolutely loving.

Just wondered if anyone has purchased a hardtop from eliseparts.com?

They sell two, one is a polsihed gel black coat and the other (for an extra 200) is a real carbon fibre.

Obviously there is a weight difference but any info about the two would be great.

thanks

Steve

Can't really answer question but I was in similar boat lastyear, ended up getting a second hand lotus top off eBay for about 750 quid, very happy with it although did have to make a bracket to pull the centre of the back down to stop it whistling at high speed. It's lined and very cost, have heard that many are not lined and hence very noisy but don't know about eliseparts one. Mine is body coloured, looks well smart.

I've got one (a Lotus one) but I never put it on. Don't see the point really, the canvas doesn't leak and it makes bugger all difference to noise levels. The only advantage I can think of is the security aspect.

It's good in deepest winter for protecting the soft top from frost - I was glad to have mine last week!

Personally I prefer the look of the Elise with a hard top on. I always leave mine on (taken it off once in 18 months), although it was a lot of fun smile

I don't have any experience with the eliseparts hardtops but I would have thought you would be able to pick up a Lotus OEM hardtop second hand for those kind of prices. That way you would be able to find yourself a colour coded version.

Incidentally, I recently posted some pics of mine on Pistonheads (couple of weeks ago) under 'ride pimped for xmas' with its Lotus hardtop on so you can see how it looks.

The frost doesn't seem to have done my soft-top much harm. I thought about putting the hardtop on when it got that cold, then decided it wasn't worth the effort.

I have an Eliseparts hardtop and it's rubbish. I had to get it altered by a (Lotus approved) bodyshop so that it fit the car. It's also poorly finished and leaks. Buy a proper Lotus one!

Thanks all for the info, greatly appreciated!

Im definately going to look for a second hand Lotus one now, so if anyone is interested in selling a short tail S2 hardtop, ideally in black, then please give me a shout.

Cheers!
