Does anyone have any technical knowledge of the cental locking fitted to an S2?
Im wanting to retro fit to mine, and not wanting to re invent the wheel.....
Are the actuators/solenoids off anything?
How do they mount?
What do they operate?

I miss the remote locking that was on my fathers 54 exige, and there cant be too much to it

Thanks

Hi, I thought to do the same on my 111S S2. Had a look inside and understand how a locking module solenoid would work the locking clip so to lock or un-lock the door. Also I saw some original Lotus modules on e-bay a while back for 15 quid each. Cheaper than the dealer. Yet more investigations lead me to beleive they are Cobra units, in a Lotus bag. And I saw those on e-bay also for about 8quid each. Might be wrong though, but the alarm is Cobra so makes sense. A bit like exhaust gaskets, don't buy from Lotus, buy from Rover, quote MGF ref = cheaper (and same thing). Anyway back to the central locking, I stopped my project, when I couldn't get so easily the grommets that ensures the cables go into the door frame. I wanted this so to keep the car as close to the original from Lotus. Checking at the dealer, this isn't sold seperately, and is only sold with the complete wiring loom. Going this way would be a big strip down or expense just for the grommets, I presume. Not for me. Well hope this gives you a direction.

if they were cobra solenoids, then it should be quite easy to link them to the alarm system, as for finding the rubber grommet/gator to go from door to door pillar, im sure something could be easily found within the car building scene.

From what youve seen inside the doors, do the solenoids mount onto something that is already there?

I was beginning to think I was on my own on this one!
