Hi, Just fitted a janspeed on my 111S S2. Yet to go out on a run yet, but already it sounds much better, up on the ramps. Now what about the small rubber pipe, that fitted into I presume some kind of warm up regulator, on the existing exhaust, just at the end (right hand exit pipe)?

Do I just tidy it away (leave open), or clamp it shut? When engine is running it is sucking air in. What to do?, Cheers, Eddie

That answers my (unposted) question of what the red plastic pipe connecting the plenum to...nothing behind the rear grill is! The garage that fitted my B&C exhaust clearly left it unconnected. From memory they may hve knotted it to block it off.

Okay yeah it's the same thing alright. I traced it back through into the engine bay, and it's the same red pipe. Okay I will do the same. Cheers

It's a vaccuum pipe that would activate a valve to open the right-hand exhaust pipe at higher revs, meaning drive-by regs are passed.

You can either put a self-tapping screw into the exhaust end and tie it back on itself with a cable tie and leave it there, or get a gromit for the plenum. Caterhams, for example, have one here.

The Supersport. I got it off e-bay before Christmas. Good price. Exhaust is in very good nick !! Haven't been out for a run yet, just reved it a little up on ramps. Getting the rear defuser cleaned up, first. About the vacum pipe, I have already done the threaded bolt stuffed into it, then cable tied neat and tidy.

Sure will do. For the moment I'm getting the 3 piece defuser smartened up a bit. So can't take her out for a run yet. Car spent time in Bognor Regis for a bit. Salt has marked a little the surface I reakon. Get that done, then time to take her out for the spin. Then install the ITG induction system, after that. I want to experience the Janspeed change first then do the air filter change. Step by step to appreciate the difference. Will keep you posted. No worries

Right finally it's on the car and sounds great. Had a huge problem first time round. Probably the reason why it was up on e-bay. One of the support bars inside the box was rattling. I've heard actually that some of these original Janspeed exhausts had a poor build quality. Maybe not true and just unlucky. Anyway after sodding around with various methods of clamping something on the outside, and still an annoying high pitched rattling sound, had no choice but to get the angle grinder out and cut open a rectangular section on top, to see what was going on inside. Lots of fibre glass wodding to remove, located the sod making the noise, had him welded back. Then replaced the wodding, then a bit of a job to weld back the plate cut out being stainless steel. So the verdict, it sounds great !!! Louds of vroom vroom. Took her for a run yesterday up to Alençon on the autoroute, and a bit loud, but okay I can live with. Also the low cost ITG is on the car too. Enclosure made from chimley pipe adaptor. Just bought the filter, the most important component. Enclosure is stainless steel and looks the parts. Final part will be the cold air ducting, once I get a silicon sleeve the old man brings over soon.
