When i get up in the morning, get in the car and as im pulling off from stationary, it feels as though the back wheels are locked up, then i put a tiny bit more power and i hear like a pop as though the wheels have been let go and it drives normally then. any ideas? its happened quite a few times now.

Pads sticking to discs when stopping and then having trouble freeing themselves next time you drive??

I tend to let my car roll to a stop rather than stop it with the brakes, once stopped I also don't apply the handbrake but do put it in gear.

Its the rear pads sticking to the discs from having the handbrake on. Pretty typical and not really anything o worry about unless you're leaving it for ages with the handbrake on which can then require giving it some proper welly to unstick. Some pads seem to do it more than others. With all this wet weather its more likely to be happening.

If you can from a saefty and security perspective park it up without using the handbrake, pop a brick in front of a couple of the wheels to chock them.

any way of getting them not to stick? Any benefit of not putting handbrake on when stopped?

I leave mine in the garage, in gear and no handbrake on, this helps. Also if you are coming home wet, try to put some heat into the brakes to help dry them off before parking up.

Yep, leave the handbrake off and they won't stick.

I alwys leave handbrake off and leave it in gear. But the other day, after one week of no driving, I really had to give it some to unstick the pads. Guess the wet weather playing havoc?
