Dear Simon Bates, this is my 'Our Tune'
Discussion
I'd had been with my S1 135 for nearly 3 years and felt that we'd outgrown each other and her lack of refinement was beginning to get a bit old. I decided that I deserved a bit more comfort and began casting my eye around for a replacement. Eventually I saw an s2000 and arranged a date, it was not to be however the 'east meets west' culture clash was just too much, it was on this date though that a boxster S caught my eye. We went out and seemed to get on, plus it was my birthday and I thought that it must be 'fate'. A deal was done and a week later the S1 was gone and the boxster moved in.
Things went well initially, I'd revel in the ease at which I could get her top off, and her broad spread of power. I was cosseted with her warmth and luxuriant handling, we even went away for a fortnight with the wife and all got on swimmingly.
The first sign that something was amiss was when a rabbit was introduced to our relationship, we were on our way to work one morning when the rampant bunny appeared under her nose, I nudged her to the side and she complained and attempted to throw me in a ditch. The Lotus would never have had such a tantrum. Could I still trust her? Was she secretly plotting to kill me and inherit my original copy of green door by Shakin' Stevens? What had I done?
From then on I realised that there was a communication problem, basically she just couldn't talk to me the way the Lotus had and although on the surface she appeared to be much more civilised and classy, she never had the talents of the Elise.
There was no way back, I had to get out of this relationship and back with a partner that understood me. The problem was that Mrs ehonda and the German got on well, to the point that SWMBO forbade me from doing anything rash. I was beginning to suspect that things had moved on between the two of them. I was the one being left doing the ironing, while they went out to enjoy lazy sunny afternoons together. How had I not seen that coming?
Then fate intervened again, Mrs ehonda was with child. Result. She no longer had room in her life for a 2 seater. I didn't even need to manufacture a disagreement between the 2 of them, now they would never meet each others needs again and I was back in the control.
Time was on my side too, baby ehonda was due about 6 weeks before the German needed some money spent on her I could use this to my advantage to force her from our lives for good. A plan was formulated. Baby ehonda can only go in one car at a time, we have one practical car. Therefore baby's needs do not affect my choice of car. Mrs ehonda and the German's relationship was doomed, thanks largely to the choice of a pram which is the size of a mature bull elephant. Therefore Mrs ehonda's needs do not affect my choice of car. The porker was beginning to demand that I spend a some money on her and pay her some attention. Therfore the porkers needs do affect my choice of car.
So, farewell Boxster. You came along and briefly changed our lives, you had your qualities and were wonderful in your own way but in the end you were just too distant and cold. Please know that it's not your fault, it's mine.
Three weeks after Mrs ehonda gave me a lovely little girl, I met another lovely girl, this one from Norfolk, she's super (charged) and we're getting on just dandy. She's much warmer than the old S1, but talks to me in just the same way. I think we're going to have a wonderful future together.
