Hi,

Ive recently purchased an S2.

After my discussions with other lotus members on here and Seloc - i was advised to go with AA Breakdown repair cover.

Basically a £100 for a year - standard AA membership and BRC.

Then if you breakdown the AA will cover up to £500 of any repair costs.

You might be able to get cover through Lotus Dealers, I got a good deal and might be worth finding out a price? I used Lipscomb's in Maidstone.

Just a thought..... and not sure if they cover this or not.

i am in the same position with my o7 exige s

murray lotus says u pay a 250 for them to examine your car and he said ball park figuire 1500 for 3 year warranty

however depending on results of check....

anyone else know if this is good or not...rather than go for other size!

Try Lipscomb's they are really good and efficient, worth getting a couple of prices, and seeing what it covers and what is does not. Probably a studpid comment, any how.

A Lotus warranty on a 2001 car? You'll be lucky. Even luckier if you can find a warranty that covers "everything". Best off going for the AA parts and labour warranty IMO, which will cover the majority of all but the most painful issues which might go wrong.

Try CSMA warranty. Covers almost everything, including MOT insurance! Limit of £2000 per claim. Around £450 per year and no excess. You have to be a member of the CSMA which is about £30 I think. Have used mine twice for HGF - hopefully never again!!

no insurance will cover wear and tear. how could they? you'd be going for a new car every 12 months on the basis that yours had a few thousand miles more wear on it.

does anyone know if you extend the warranty with lotus if it depreciates every year?

Interesting SeanyD but its a bit of a con really. What they are saying is that when the car has done 100000 miles for example and the crankshaft breaks, they will only pay 50% of the cost of the new parts on account of wear and tear. Items that actually do wear (like clutches) they wont cover at all. So yes , at least they are being honest in explaining a policy on wear and tear but its probably no different from that operated by their competitors.
