Any one got a LSD in an K Series Elise or Exige? I am thinking of putting one in my GTM Libra (VVC engine, PG1 C/R box)

What are the benefits/drawbacks in the real world?

My specialist subject.....

Drawbacks - in my opinion absolutely none. You will get increased traction but as all of the geometry is adjustable on an elise (and I assume the GTM) then I tweaked it to suit, there is no understeer as some will state you will get if you fit the diff.

Benefits are all of those you would expect from running the LSD, no more spinning away power through the inside rear, infinitely more controllable in the wet.

I fitted the Torsen diff from a rover 600 turbo box, managed to get a brand new one cheap. Well worth it if you can find one.

Worth it if you drive like Dan Webster.

Check out his videos, especially the Cadwell 'I've just watched Faszination' oversteer-fest.

Anyone for 'I AM STEFAN ROSER' t-shirts?

hehe

To be honest mate I only 'know' you from your Mini days, since I was a big Mini fan and you had the fastest Mini out there... seen plenty of your old mad Mini videos smile

I'm surprised given the power-lust in the Mini that you haven't gone Honda with the Elise yet, though you'd probably get through tyres like fuel... smile

I'm building a screaming K series at the moment, aiming for 230hp.

Can't afford the honda conversion unfortunately so i'll have to make do for now......i'm just about to have my 5th set of rear tyres in 15 months fitted biggrin

Thanks Dan

The power slides in the wet are something I can only dream of in the GTM with an open diff.

Very impressive. I guess it's not all down to the diff though. There is some skill and practice involved too? bow

Is it twitchy on rough B roads?

No not at all, the car feels very planted but I think thats as much down to the suspension as anything. For me the only real difference is when you're on or over the limit, at which point it become eminently more adjustable than without the diff.

Thanks Dan.

Looks like I am on the look out for a slippy diff.
