Hi
A friend at work is buying a S2 Elise 111R.
this one is advertised at Dove house:
http://www.dovehousecars.com/stock/details.asp?Veh...
does anyone know anything about this car or have a 111R for sale at similar mileage and price?
cheers

ps that will make it 11 Lotus cars at work, not bad for 450 employees. I wonder if anyone can else can beat this ratio of Lotii to employees outside Lotus cars itself.

I'd say it's a bit on the steep side. I bought one with v.similar spec 3 weeks ago (2006/55 111R, Red, 11300 miles, one owner, flsh, but no hard top - see my profile pic) for less. It was in the dealer (not Lotus main dealer, but still gave me a 6m warranty) for £17995 and I managed to get a further reduction on that

Too dear, I'd say. If he has that kind of money to spend, I'd recommend an 06MY that features the new pedal box, Probax seats and LED rear lights. For reference, I paid £17,500 for a July 06 registered car in a lifestyle colour with A/C, Touring Pack, 6,500 miles and 2.5 years worth of extended warranty left through a private sale. That was 3 weeks ago and prices will only be falling.
If you friend can get an inspection done and find a car with extended warranty, he will save a fortune going for a private sale. Will probably get more for his existing car privately too.

Thanks for the feedback guys, very helpful. Forgot about the change in pedal box. The 06 onwards cars allows heel and toeing I believe which I always think is a big deal in a sports car. We will probably inspect ourselves so no problem to buy privately.
Guess we are beaten on the ratio of Lotii to employees!! It is still pretty impressive when we get them all parked together. I will try and post some pics. We have the last S1 Exige made at work and an old Esprit Turbo along as the normal Elise and Europa mix plus a couple of Elans, an Excel and a 7 so quite a nice gathering.
cheers

My sentimets also renmure. That's why I ordered a base car 'cause I knew I wouldn't need A/C & didn't even spec any of the other options too. Intead, I used the saved cash and went for a bespoke interior to my taste (even the dealer thought it looked fantastic when it was delivered), Exige wheels/tyres and other bits and bobs... never looked back since. Even when it is raining I don't get condesation, I just use the interior fan on low speed... works just fine !
I think it depends on the use. At our factory we tend to end up working late and it is a real pain to go out to the car park and have to spend 10 mins getting the screen clear when the A/C does it so much quicker. What you loose on lap time home from the extra weight of the A/C you make up for with a better starting position!!
Thanks again for the feedback guys.

Mine is pre 06 face lift, but regsitered in Feb 06. Got touring pack, but no a/c (agree- what is the point, although not had to try and clear the windscreen yet...). Thought about getting a cheaper car on a private sale, but was reluctant because of the lack of comeback if it's a lemon. Caveat Emptor is fine if the buyer is able to make an educated decision - being a newby and the sums involved, I decided against it. Plus the dealer is about 5 miles away from my house, so i can easily take it back if a problem etc.
Most importantly, I absolutely bloody love it and can't wait for the weekend to come around again

That's what it's all about. A couple of hundred quid either way is something and nothing. I was out around South Milford/Sherburn way over the weekend and had a charming drive about. The roads were damp so I wasn't going crazy, but just love the feeling of connection from the car. I run back to it at petrol stations so I can drive it sooner. Every morning I'm counting down the minutes until "Lotus o'clock" when I get to drive it again.

I think I need to get out more...

prices will firm up when the good weather arrives, so now is the time to buy!
My friend test drove the car list night. He loves the motor but they will not drop on price and he is not totally sold on the colour so I think its a case of keep looking. There is also an orange Exige S2 in Scotland that has taken his eye. He commutes from Northhampton to Oxford when in the country so not sure how the Exige would be as a regular use car. However the wow factor of a bright orange Exige is hard to resist, if I was younger I would probably have gone down this route rather than the Europa.

Silver is average IMO, Orange is fantastic. Nice 111R in Orange at Bell & Coalville that I have my eye on....

Hi Stu
how is Lux, not too painful I hope? I agree about Orange, for some reason all Lotii look good in that colour. I was going to get a S4 Esprit in the same colours but I always seem to end up with black. I hope he gets the Exige as I have never had a go in one. Trouble is if I drive his Exige I will have to let him drive my Europa and he is a mad driver!!
