Second naive question in 2 days - so I'm hoping for the same speed and comprehensiveness of responses!

How do you all cope with punctures - what do you carry instead of a spare tyre?

Can you tell I've only ever had company cars??

Theres one of those foam kits in the front of the S1s next to the rad, I assume the S2s will have a simular set up.

An AA card.

I've tried to use those aerosol cans twice (not in the Elise). They failed. Twice.

Makes a right mess of the wheel inside and tyre fitters hate you for it.

I carry two cans in the car, plus RAC if that fails - not much other choice really.

If you dont have the can in the car (Inside the boot - on the right, opposite side to battery) then local petrol garage should have some.

Someone mentioned a product that was aerosol based and wokred like the other systems, however it was also possible to remove it using warm water. Can not for the life of me remember the name of it, hopefully someone will post it again.
The benefit being that some tyre companies just wont repair tyres that have had the standard spray used, as it is such a pain to remove/work around.

As above, if you've got an Elise and aren't a member of the AA or RAC, you're bonkers anyway.

ditto

If you own an Elise you are raving loony bonkers if you don't have some form of breakdown and recovery cover....

And only raving mad if you don't have some form of extended warranty ;-)

I'd agree, although not because my car is unreliable. It's been the most reliable I've ever owned.

You can't just get a mate to tow an Elise if you need to though......

I've 2 cans of foam (never had to use them though) and AA membership.
Having 15" AND 16" wheels makes the spare issue a little complicated for a car with a tiny boot

Yep, you gotta have RAC/AA or the like membership, as the foam may not work and is, at best, a temporary measure.

Always a good idea to tell the garage/tyre fitter that you used the foam, as it can make quite a mess when the tyre is removed, and you don't want a peed off tyre fitter mucking around with your wheels....

its becoming much more normal these days too, to have a car without a spare...to save weight/space. Just try to think of a 2 seater sportscar that comes with a spare wheel !?

even some saloons/hatches dont have them or they are optional extras FFS !

Does anyone remember the name of the product that was removed by washing out with water. Think it had to have a detergent in it too, but would be handy to know, if anyone can recollect.
Need to get a new can sometime soon as my current one is well past its use by date
