Hi,

Ive done a search and found nothing, i know of the difficulties in getting in and out, and have also driven one in the past (loved it).

The decider for me is, could i get in and out of it when parked in a standard space i.e ASDA or Work more importantly!

I'm 6"2" maybe even 6"3" would the door open sufficiently wide enough for me to get in and out with a car parked next to me?

I guess the answer is go to a lotus garage and try, but if its an impossibility the heads-up would be nice.

Thanks

bogie

yeah, I know guys up to 6'6" who use them as daily drivers all over the place ...you manage and get used to these minor Elise quirks wink

Dunno about the height thing, but you'll find you try and find the space where nobody can park next to the driver's side, as much for prevention of parking dings than ease of exit!! If you can get in it and drive it comfortably, I wouldn't worry about being able to get out- you may not want to!! And you can always choose home delivery. smile

Its how flexible you are really and your technique.

Im only 6' but cant see 2" making much difference when
parked next to someone. Bloody sciatica dependingrolleyes

Hopefully you don't plan on doing the big shop in it!

Whilst height is relevant, your physique is just as important, if you are 6' 2" and built like a Brick S**T House, then you will have trouble.
I'm 6' 4" and relatively skinny and have no issues

not dependant so much on height as on flexibility. had an old friend of maybe 5ft 7 literally stuck half way in and half way out - had to take the roof off to rescue him. problem was he had had an artifical hip and just couldnt bend enough in the middle. another friend of similar height struggled because he couldnt use the roof rail as a lever to help himself out - but then he's a well known fat barsteward.

so if you can touch your toes you should be OK

I havent been able to touch my toes since I was about 10, but still manage fine biggrin (I'm no lardy, just not very flexible). To answer the opening post, it seems to depend more on build/shape/flexability etc etc rather than just height alone.

I have occasionally had to roll the roof back to get out in particularly tight spaces. In a "normal" space, it's not a problem though unless you're extremely inflexible and/or fat. smile

I think a removable steering wheel would make it much easier.

Mmmmm...a Lotus Elise and ASDA car parks? (Any shop car parks, to be honest)

Not a good idea, believe me!

Opening the window helps - depending on technique your head goes there. smile

Never had to roll back the roof except on ferries - then it's great, leave the door shut, stand up and as you're tall just step out. biggrin

Wherever I go, someone either parks right next to me in a big 4x4 full of kids seats are a right old shed with kids seats in it - Even if I park at the other end of the car park - I did it once in town, end of a row, 20 spaces clear to the passenger side, came back, a right old shed next to me, 19 spaces empty the other side.

6ft 4, 13.5 stone, manage without too much of a problem, but it depends on just how tight the spaces are, ones in multis tend to be the worst.

I refuse point blank to take mine anywhere like that. I'm finding myself walking and scrounging lifts a lot these days...

Im 6ft and not exactly flexible and i manage with my S2 as a daily drive. You can take the roof off and put it on from inside so no problem realy. go for it
